Military Program

The Nativ Military Program is intended for IDF soldiers and National Service Volunteers.

The Basic Nativ Military Course

The Basic Nativ Military Course deals with defining and strengthening Israeli-Jewish-Zionist identity. During the course, students are exposed to a rich world of content including Jewish History, Zionism and Israel, Bible Study, Jewish Philosophy, Practical Judaism, the Jewish Yearly Cycle, the Jewish Life Cycle, and more.

The course takes place in a unique framework that combines classroom study, individual instruction, weekly excursions throughout the country, group Sabbath experiences, personal projects, a family tree event, community projects, acquaintance with the world of Jewish melody and more.

Closed Nativ– The course takes place over six weeks in civilian dormitories in Jerusalem and Zikhron Ya’akov.
Open Nativ – Daily classes from 8:00 to 17:00 without dormitories for soldiers not required to live on base during their military service.
The course takes place in Soldiers’ Homes in Haifa, Tel Aviv and Be’er Sheba over an eight week period.

Conversion Seminars

Graduates of the Nativ Basic Course who are interested in continuing the conversion process can sign up for two conversion seminars. During the seminars the soldiers complete the course of study required for finishing the conversion process along with activities and excursions that deepen and strengthen their personal experience. Upon conclusion of the seminars the soldiers can proceed to the Army Conversion Court.

The seminars take place in civilian facilities. The length of the seminar is determined by the service requirements of the soldiers.
Kfar Etsiyon Seminar—3 weeks
Ramat Gan Seminar—4 weeks

Nativ at the Beginning of Service

This is a special direct course of study that combines the basic class and seminars at the beginning of military service. The whole 13 week program takes place at the Hodayot Youth Village.

Nativ during National Service: Official Conversion for National Service Civilian Volunteers

Part 1  – One full day of study each week for six months.
The syllabus contains a wide and rich variety of topics, such as Jewish History, Zionism and Israel, Bible Study, Jewish Philosophy, Practical Judaism, the Jewish Yearly Cycle, the Jewish Life Cycle, and more, and includes excursions and group Sabbath experiences.

Part 2  – A three-week concentrated seminar.
In the seminar the students complete the course of study required to finish the conversion process, along with practical application, excursions, and group Sabbath experiences that deepen and strengthen their personal experiences.

Upon completion of the seminar, the volunteers are eligible to proceed to the Special Conversion Court in their residential area.

Registration for the Nativ Basic Military Class

Candidates for Military Service receive a summons to an information event directly from the Recruitment Office.
Soldiers in Active Service – are called to the event by the administrative or educational section of their unit.
