Rabbi Heshy Friedman holds a BA in Talmudic and Eretz Yisrael Studies, an MA in Jewish Education, a teaching certificate, and a rabbinical ordination. He served as a community rabbi and educator in California and previously coordinated Jewish Identity & Israeli Thought at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. He was an honored recipient of a sabbatical from the Avi Chai Foundation.
The rabbi joined Nativ 25 years ago and has been involved in Jewish education worldwide for more than 40 years. As Director of Education, he is tasked with developing a vision for in-depth, inclusive, hands-on learning. His responsibilities in this role include training and mentoring teachers, building curricula, interdisciplinary educational development, continuing education, and resolving various educational dilemmas.
